Deborah’s art expresses her love of nature and contemporary styling in a rather uncomplicated and direct fashion that relies on bold use of colour, shape and texture for effect. Deborah’s love of the Australian bush, native flowers and the landscape is a recurring theme. Some of the works are rather abstract, for example, the modern paintings or the designs of purely geometric quilts. Cultural influences, particularly from Japanese culture and Australian aboriginal art, are evident in some works such as seen in the incorporation of Japanese or Aboriginal print fabrics in quilts.
